Sharp pain on one side, or bleeding that won’t stop

Soak two thick full-size pads per hour for two consecutive hours: that is an ER. If you are crashing before the second hour, do not wait. One-sided pain or pain at the tip of your shoulder is an ectopic concern. Treat it as an ER.

Ectopic care is not “getting an abortion”

An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy outside the uterus, or in the cornu of the uterus. A home test cannot tell you that. A mailed pill cannot tell you that.

The Act’s definition of abortion does not include a procedure or act to terminate the pregnancy of a woman with an ectopic pregnancy. You can still get care.

The approved mifepristone regimen is not treatment for ectopic pregnancy. Expected pain and bleeding can look like a ruptured ectopic. A ruptured ectopic can be fatal.

Bleeding and cramping can look like a miscarriage. They can also be a ruptured ectopic.

A procedure to terminate a pregnancy when the unborn child has a lethal anomaly is also drawn outside the Act’s definition of abortion, in the Act’s own words.

If you already took abortion-pill medicines, tell the ER what you took so they can treat you. No woman upon whom an abortion is performed or attempted shall be criminally or civilly liable under the Act. Still tell them.

FDA labeling says follow-up about 7 to 14 days after mifepristone is very important if that regimen was used. If listed contacts cannot be reached, go to an ER.
